The document outlines the current and potential role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in ensuring transparency and community participation in processes related to Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs), and offers practical guidance for strengthening the capacity of the civic sector to safeguard the interests of local communities. The policy brief is based on a comprehensive study that included a legal analysis of the relevant legislation, a review of the implementation practices of all concluded PSAs, a survey of 211 territorial communities, and 26 in-depth interviews conducted across four extractive regions.
